Why Use Vented Firewood Bags
Sterrett Farms offers 2 sizes Weekender Bags (Left) and Jumbo Bulk bags (Right)
Charleston, SC features a unique climate mixing hot summers and mild winters with a tendency for lots of rain and notorious humidity. When storing wood in high-humidity environments, airflow is crucial.
Preventing the wood from natural airflow will allow for the development of mold, and or rot. At Sterrett Farms, we use specialized ventilated FIBC bulk bags to deliver and store all wood. These bags allow for the movement of air around each split ensuring a consistently dry product while protecting the wood from mold, dirt, and insects. Wood stored in traditional nonventilated bags or stacked in pallets that are enclosed with stretch wrap will not allow for the wood to breath. Oftentimes, these packaging types will be delivered with visible surface moisture displaying the lack of airflow required to ensure a premium product.
At Sterrett Farms, we offer 2 sizes of ventilated bulk bags.
Our larger Jumbo Bulk Bag (white bag in image above)contains over 21cuft and fits on a standard pallet. These bags are perfect for larger events where space and access are well established. Each bag weighs roughly 600lbs when seasoned to under 20%. This means that from fresh cut to your door, a single Jumbo Bulk Bag will loose over 200lbs or close to 25 gallons of water.
Our smaller Weekender Bag contains over 8cuft of stacked firewood. These bags are preferred for busy kitchens and tight areas as they are conveniently delivered with a furniture dolly. Each bag weighs roughly 200lbs and measured 20x20x42in.
Both of our bags utilize the custom ventilated mesh allowing for airflow and creating an environment that repels moisture and insects.
